Farewell 2009, hello 2010

It is the New Year and it is time for great food, family, reflection, predictions and top ten lists. Here, I have collected my top ten list of top ten lists. They are divided between reviews of Linux related events from 2009 and predictions for 2010 and beyond. This list of lists was presented at the Kitchener Waterloo Linux User Group at the January 2010 meeting.
- Aquisition of Sun by Oracle. The future of MySQL is highly debated. -- Vincent Danen
- Chrome OS may end up being the game-changer for end-user Linux -- Stephen J. Vaughan-Nichols
- Google Wave was given a big launch, but the realtime collaboration system wasn't really ready for the spotlight. -- Dj Walker-Morgan
- A breakthrough year for mobile Linux. -- Eric Brown
- Microsoft released its first piece of software under the GNU GPL. -- Alastair Otter
- In 2010 on the Internet, still nobody will know you are a dog. -- Anonymous
- As we push more and more data into the cloud, a data disaster is almost inevitable. -- Adrian Kingsley-Hughes
- Gnome 3 will ruffle feathers. -- Jack Wallen
- By 2013, more than 50% of new open source projects will leverage "affero"-style licenses vs 5% in 2009. -- Mark Driver
