Community, community, community, community
Just a quick note to thank the timing gremlins. My ISP helpfully packed it in shortly after I left for Girona and has mysteriously returned moments before I reached home to punt the DSL box. Grand. Thanks.
Girona was great because of the OpenStreetMap community. I had countless discussions with others in the community who informed, entertained and flattered me. We could plan one of these community meetings in a cardboard box and it would be worth the trip.
We did substantially better than a cardboard box though. Discovering Girona, the people and food and many, many stairs was wonderful. I especially enjoyed having the opportunity to meet with the nice folks at the University of Girona GIS department, and the City of Girona, and other government GIS administrations. The chance to watch the amazing Dermot McNally with his afternoon crash course in OSM for a summer school class of motivated GIS Ph.D. candidates (And one "pretender" already with a Ph.D.) was a special treat as well.
Too many people to thank individually. I was really fortunate to be able to speak to so many. Look forward to speaking with all of you again soon.

Great to finally meet you Richard! I can't agree more :)
ALL HAIL THE COMMUNITY!
It was definitely very nice to see all these smart people talking about the goods and bads of OpenStreetMap and taking part in the future development. And it was very nice to see you -- the Master of ShieldSymbolizer. ;)
